2020 Wildfire Relief & Prevention Grants NOW OPEN
APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 15, 2020
California Fire Departments, Firefighter Associations, Fire Safety Councils and Local Nonprofit, Safety-Focused Organizations Encouraged to Apply
Recent fire seasons in California have been the deadliest and most destructive on record. And, the state continues to battle a drought of historic proportions — the worst megadrought in centuries. Even without the coronavirus outbreak, as weather heats up across California and increases wildfire risk, our state is bracing for a long, hot summer thanks to the record drought. COVID-19 could make this year’s fire season much worse.
The California Fire Foundation has teamed up with Edison International, Chevron and Pacific Gas & Electric to provide 2020 wildfire relief and prevention funding in the form of grants to California fire departments, firefighter associations and other specified nonprofit, safety-focused organizations serving the residents of California.
Funding priority will be given to proposed projects and/or programs in Tier 3 (extreme) and Tier 2 (elevated) high-fire threat areas, which focus on:
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Specialized Firefighting Equipment
- Mitigation & Fuels Reduction
- First Responder Training
- Fire Prevention Education & Planning
- Community Outreach & Preparedness
Up to $15,000 will be awarded to each qualified grantee, with requests outside of this range being considered on an as-needed basis. Funding will be awarded on or before August 19, 2020.
The deadline to submit a grant application is July 15, 2020. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, so don’t delay… apply today while funds remain available!
